Little Gardeners

This year, we decided to join our Community Garden. Mom and Dad Potato have plenty of gardening supplies handy, but CP #1 and #2 needed some of their own. While shopping, the team discovered these sturdy Schylling-brand garden tools at Play & Learn in Freeport, but you can find them at toy stores throughout Maine.

We also found Boss-brand, cotton gardening gloves (just $2.99 ) at Goff’s Hardware in Yarmouth. The gloves fit CP #1 perfectly, but they’re still a bit large for her younger brother. Gardening mittens, anyone?

O’Donal’s Nursery in Gorham carries kids’ gardening supplies, too. We found a an assortment of colorful gloves from Boss, in smaller sizes, and also a few wide-brimmed hats from Wallaroo.

At the Paris Farmer’s Union, we discovered a recyclable, Pink Pig Watering Can plus a great deal ($6.99) on a children’s gardening set, which includes a steel watering can and three hand tools (trowel, rake and shovel).

Team Cute Potato tries to buy local whenever we can, but the Target dollar bin offers metal hand tools for $1.00 plus super cute garden kneeler pads for kids, which have already come in handy while digging in the dirt.
