Giveaway Day #10: Children’s Classics from Islandport Press

Whenever MP drives on Route One in Yarmouth, past the modest office that houses Islandport Press, she feels so proud. How cool is it to live near a company that publishes the works of Dahlov Ipcar and Robert F. Baldwin?

We love Dahlov Ipcar’s books for their vivid, unforgettable illustrations. Her stories capture the beauty and simplicity of everyday life. We meet a farmer who works tirelessly to enjoy the fruits of his labor, a boy who is comforted by a handmade quilt, and a family who honors their hardworking mare by keeping her long after she’s retired.

Author Robert F. Baldwin, who passed away in 2007, tells stories of New England life and the sea. His book, The Fish House Door, takes place on a Maine island. A young boy learns about his past, and how much it’s valued, when a visitor notices a long forgotten family treasure.

You can enter to win all 4 books by donating to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital here. Reminder: Under the Tribute Section, be sure to type ‘Cute Potato’ in the box that says, ‘Name.’

Contest ends Feb. 10 at midnight EST. The winner will be chosen at random and announced on Feb. 14, 2013. Thanks for entering, and happy reading!

  1. Thank you for promoting my late dad’s book, The Fish House Door. He would have been so delighted that both he and I were contributing in our own ways to your fundraiser for the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.

    Thanks, Jen!
