Wolfe’s Neck Farm Pumpkin Hayrides

Wolfe’s Neck Farm, a 626-acre, educational farm set on the Casco Bay, is one of our favorite places to visit any time of year, but in the fall, the golden fields and changing trees make for a stunning setting. We visited for a Pumpkin Hayride, and despite a cloudy Sunday, our team had a blast.

Show Your Love: 14 Days of Giving for the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital

MP doesn’t typically get personal on these pages, but today, as she prepares to launch Cute Potato’s first online fundraiser for The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, she thought it would be worth sharing a CP family story with you. Meet Jack. In August, MP’s nephew Jack was born weighing 6 lbs. 10 ounces, looking healthy, fabulous, and ready to greet …

Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta

The Damariscotta Pumpkinfest begins this Saturday! Our family had so much fun exploring the pretty village last fall. This is the place to sample pumpkin soda, check out quirky events and see some seriously big pumpkins.

Wolfe’s Neck Farm Spring Festival

The team at Cute Potato has always enjoyed Wolfe’s Neck Farm in Freeport for its spectacular, coastal setting and inspired events for families. This Saturday’s Spring Festival promises to be a treat for all ages. Kids can take part in crafts and games (CP#1 made a beautiful beaded bracelet in the past), scavenger hunts, hayrides along the coast, and face …

Jillson’s Farm & Sugarhouse

Sugar on snow, stacks of pancakes with real maple syrup, the smell of spring in the air—these are just a few reasons we’ve always loved Maine Maple Sunday. But why celebrate this fun, family event just once a year? At Jillson’s Farm & Sugarhouse in Sabattus, visitors can enjoy all the wonderful things about Maine Maple Sunday (minus the lines) …

Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival

If there’s one event that will put your family in the Halloween spirit, it is this weekend’s Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival at L.L.Bean in Freeport. MP took the kids in their pajamas and winter coats on a Saturday evening last year and we had a blast. The festival’s 6,000 jack-o’-lanterns are spectacular to view at night.

Portsmouth, NH Fairy House Tour

CP#1 and her friend, R., have a few things in common: the girls like to sing and dance; they love dress up; and they’re always game for adventure. So you can imagine the level of excitement at our house when R. invited us to this weekend’s Fairy House Tour in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The event takes place in the city’s …

The Great Falls Balloon Festival

The Great Falls Balloon Festival starts tomorrow in Lewiston. Last year, the team traveled to the festival for the 6 p.m. balloon launch. We arrived about an hour early and set up lawn chairs in Railroad Park. Grandma Cookie Potato offered to stay with the chairs (and CP#2, who was fast asleep in his stroller), while CP#1 and MP checked …

Classical Music for Kids

MP’s quirky 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Wiegand, played Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 5 while the class practiced cursive writing. MP was only eight years old at the time, but something about the music calmed her. She learned to enjoy classical composers (and writing) thanks to this wonderful teacher. With this thought in mind, the team attended the Portland Chamber …
